Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose our Admissions Counselor and Director Bootcamp?

Our program is a one of a kind bootcamp offering a comprehensive and project-based curriculum on all aspects of admissions leadership and counseling. The bootcamp takes you from zero knowledge and guides you as if you were in the role itself. You will leave with a portfolio of real-world projects solving some of the biggest challenges in college enrollment today, a certificate of completion and a letter of reference you can provide employers.
Why not have live classes where participants work together?
We put a lot of thought and research into this. After careful consideration and drawing from our extensive experience in team leadership and consulting, we have made a deliberate decision regarding the structure of our program. Rather than having a full class work together, we have chosen to prioritize individual learning experiences. Through our years of expertise, we have observed that individuals who are empowered to work independently tend to develop a higher level of self-sufficiency. By encouraging participants to think critically and solve problems on their own, we have witnessed remarkable career growth and success in their trajectories at a considerably different pace than those in live classes. It is our belief that fostering an environment where individuals can thrive independently will ultimately lead to greater personal and professional development. At our program, we prioritize the cultivation of individual strengths, allowing each participant to excel in their unique journey.
Why should I have a portfolio to show the projects I've completed?
When the goal is changing careers or advancing into leadership it's important that you stand out. Rather than just talking about what you can do you get to show them. Colleges are looking for people who have experience and the large abundance of those interviewing do not have experience like this, according to Campus Presidents on a panel discussion held by Higher Ed Chronicle regarding enrollment and staffing challenges. Those that do have experience have limited experience. Most people are looking for a shot to enter into the field which isn't of what colleges are looking for or need. Colleges want specific job knowledge, critical thinkers and those with creative ideas to help their teams thrive. You will provide evidence of your details and a pronounced passion for your chosen field. Think about it, you are showing your absolute dedication by taking hold of your career choice and you have details within your projects to boot.

What are the requirements?

A mentor discussion about your background and what is leading you to this change, an essay once discussion is completed and a copy of your resume. Degrees are preferred in the field but not for this program. We are not a school but a professional development platform for learning through a project-based bootcamp setting. So, we don't have the rigor in acceptance in the way that you might be use to. Our rigor is in the curriculum itself and you must be prepared for the undertaking. It's a bootcamp style immersion. It's the only way we can set you apart. But, because you are learning how to become an admissions counselor you have to know exactly what's done in the role. It's part of your training.

Who is this program best suited for?

Anyone who is interested in admissions and prepared to do the work including role play. Role play is the absolute necessary item for all jobs in admissions. The work is the difference maker and will require your attention.

How long does the training take to finish?

6-weeks and each week our participants will have a one on one with us at length. It is possible to begin looking for jobs while doing this if you feel ready but it's not possible to finish the training sooner. Your experience is the kicker. Multiple mock interviews, phone appointments, interpreting conversions, learning programs are the keys to continued success in the field.

What if the job market isn't that great?

Well, take a look at the jobs available in admissions. There are many and they will continue to build because the talent doesn't exist. As a matter of fact, The Chronicle of Higher Ed, has shared during multiple panels with University Presidents and Enrollment leaders, that there is a talent crisis in higher ed. When someone gets hired they are trained by people who are doing two or three other jobs. Plus, they are trained on bare bones basics and fundamentals nothing that is strategic and in depth. This is the primary reason for creating this program. Plus, skills are transferrable to many jobs. Download the career and start feeling it out.

Do you help with career planning and preparing for presenting ourselves for jobs in admissions?

Yes, we want to maintain our relationships with you as you will want to hire others who have taken the journey like yourself. We have an in depth success planning and individual career planning portion of the curriculum which is a robust module in preparation for the job search. Plus, you will learn how to add this experience to your resume in both education and projects, how to showcase your projects and learnings and how to convey your discipline and dedication to the field. The goal is for you to stand out. Through our relationship with you we will also provide you with a referral and have been known to help support you by calling schools ourselves. We cannot guarantee employment but we can guarantee that you will be a priority.

What if I don't have a degree and don't want to go to a traditional school to get a degree? What are my options?

We typically look for those with degrees because there are more jobs available. However, for those without degrees it's probably easiest to look at trade schools, bootcamps, and educational sales because they all have admissions teams and are more open to experience above degrees. The knowledge and experienced gained from this training is beyond what they are receiving in the majority of their candidates. This training teaches how to run an entire department as well as how to be the enrollment counselor depending on what you choose. This means directors can lean on our graduates for events, training and other things. Aim to be a value add. Just know that the jobs for someone without a degree are more limited but the pay offers should remain the same. Essentially, they don't typically offer less than others in their office. Though nothing is guaranteed anywhere.

Where roles can admissions counselor lead to?

Admissions counselor, assistant director of admissions, director of admissions, regional director of admissions, vice president of admissions, campus president, director of campus, campus director, enrollment processor, financial aid advisor, career services advisor, director of career services, global business development manager, sales manager, educational account executive, and entrepreneur. This is because admissions breaks down every facet of the process of consultative sales and makes it about the student. Knowing how to self-correct in segments of the admissions process makes it easy to fine tune and correct for better outcomes. Plus, admissions is a small field and if someone is good they can often move quickly in their career by planning ahead. Some decide to stay in admissions and as you saw, in the listing of jobs, there is room for potential. Or, if you get stuck be bold and venture out. This training is about knowing how to create outcomes and outcomes are essential everywhere. Beauty schools, auto schools, HVAC schools, those don't give degrees and are easier to break into with experience.
